Choosing a local stone, or one already prominent in your garden can be a clever choice when designing your outdoor kitchen area. Once the shell of the kitchen is in place, you could work with a local stone mason to build the façade, creating a natural, rustic feel that complements the landscape. With its timeless feel, this patio makes the most of every spare inch by neatly fitting a wooden table and bench in the centre of the kitchen – the scene is set for a perfect summer feast.
Manmade
What could have been a small and uninteresting garden displays a creative use of space in layered, architectural planting and the sleek and contemporary kitchen. By restricting the palette to anthracite, light concrete, stained wood and lush greenery, the scheme pulls together cohesively. It’s the modern take on a pizza oven that really gets us excited though…
Ambient evenings
The flicker of firelight, the glows of lamps and the twinkle of fairy lights… this kitchen is all set for the party to continue into the night. We especially love the firepit built into the coffee table, and the use of indoor lamps and textiles outside – creating unexpected comfort and warmth in an outdoor space.
Living the dream
While an overhaul this large is maybe not on everyone’s immediate to-do list, we can but dream… Featuring a hugely impressive fireplace with relaxed seating, the garden design says luxury and perfection whilst being very inviting and practical in terms of upkeep. The kitchen is given a shelter of its own to protect the wood and stainless steel finishes from the elements, and create a stand-alone design feature.
Rustic relaxation
With it’s rattan seating, wooden cupboard fronts, and use of natural stone, this kitchen is remniscent of an italian villa, or some chateau set high on the hills of Tuscany. A case of seeing beauty in the traditional; an antique chandelier, and a slatted wooden ceiling with beams bring in an age-old grandeur which perfectly complements the archways.

A simple configuration like this one could be easily placed into so many gardens, to create an ambient outdoor dining space. Weatherproof and wipe-clean surfaces mean it’s extremely practical as well as featuring lots of cupboards space for outdoor entertaining items. In dark grey, the kitchen itself stands out from the light stone walls, creating a dramatic statement where all eyes are drawn to the meal being prepared.
